New market software automating cash payment process at POS revolutionizes retail industry

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 6, 2021) – Staley Technologies, headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, announced today it has been awarded the exclusive rights to new market technology in the United States of America, integrating automated cash payment processing at the point of sale, in partnership with CIMA and NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR).

“Staley Technologies is excited to bring this new offering to the retail industry,” said Andrew Faulkner, CEO of Staley Technologies. “This integration will deliver a long-needed solution and protect our customers’ margins as they operate in this changing environment. We are dedicated to identifying optimal technology solutions to propel our customers to continued success.”

For the first time in the industry, CIMA has integrated its customer-facing cash recycler with Counterpoint POS software. Arkansas-based Staley Technologies is the only business in the U.S.A. with the rights to sell this technology within the Counterpoint retail segment.

The product allows for retailers to reduce shrinkage and increase efficiency at the POS. These cash recyclers double as smart safes for the business by eliminating the need for employees to handle cash or coordinate cash drops.

“In collaboration with the teams at Staley and Mainspring, we completed the integration between Counterpoint POS and the CIMA range of INLANE consumer-facing cash recycling solutions,” said Vik Devjee, Vice President of CIMA North America. “Automating the cash payment process at POS requires machines and software to talk, which has never been done before in this way. We look forward to working with our partners to deliver retail solutions that make the cash payment process easier, more accurate and hygienic for staff and consumers.”

The CIMA range includes tabletop, standalone and kiosk solutions. At the point of sale, customers insert cash payments and receive change without a touchpoint between employee and customer. This prevents employees from mishandling cash, creates efficiencies in money management and stops the receipt of counterfeit currency.

The retail industry is foreseen to benefit the most from the new technology, particularly businesses that handle high volumes of cash daily, such as grocery stores (SMEs), liquor stores, convenience stores, and cannabis dispensaries.
